Retail investors have long preferred systematic investment plans (SIPs), which enable individuals to make consistent, disciplined investments in accordance with their goals and income rather than attempting to time the market.

As a result, SIP inflows have significantly increased. According to data from the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) (table 1), gross SIP inflows reached a record Rs 25,323 crore in October 2024, up from Rs 20,000 crore at the beginning of this fiscal year. In fact, the full-year SIP flows of FY 2022–2023 have already been surpassed by YTD (year-to-date) inflows (April–October 24).
