India Blocks Pakistani Ships from Ports Amid Rising Tensions
Following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, India has imposed a ban on Pakistani-flagged ships from entering its ports, citing national security concerns. The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has also restricted Indian vessels from docking at Pakistani ports, marking a significant escalation in diplomatic and trade relations between the two nations.
The move comes as part of a broader set of retaliatory measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals. The ban, effective immediately, aims to safeguard Indian assets and infrastructure while reinforcing the country’s stance against cross-border terrorism.
With tensions at an all-time high, the maritime restrictions signal a deeper shift in India’s approach to its economic and security policies concerning Pakistan. As both nations brace for further developments, the impact on trade and regional stability remains uncertain.
