Investment in mutual funds through SIPs has become more affordable for investors. Recent examples are Reliance & ICICI MF

The minimum application amount to invest in mutual funds through SIPs has been lowered to Rs. 100 by Reliance Mutual Fund and ICICI Mutual Fund.

SIPs have made mutual fund investment more affordable for investors. In the most recent example, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund cut the minimum application amount for mutual funds through SIPs from Rs.500 to Rs.100. The fund company has cut the minimum application size for all equity plans.

However, micro SIPs failed to take off due to increased purchase costs and logistics concerns. It will be interesting to see how the new-age micro SIPs perform in the Rs.25 trillion mutual fund business.
