The top 50 money multipliers in India demonstrate the power of compounding in mutual funds

NAV statistics for MF schemes shows that the top 50 schemes have multiplied investors’ wealth by at least 84 times, with the Nippon India Growth Fund seeing the largest increase since 1995.

Franklin India Prima Fund and HDFC Flexi Cap Fund have seen their NAVs multiply by 278x and 189x respectively, indicating that 12 schemes have helped clients make at least Rs.1 crore on their initial investment.

12 schemes, including the Aditya Birla Sun Life Flexi Cap Fund, the Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund, the Nippon India Vision Fund, the Aditya Birla Sun Life MNC Fund, and the Sundaram Mid Cap Fund, are shown in the analysis to have assisted clients in earning at least Rs. 1 crore on an initial investment of Rs. 1 lakh.

It’s interesting to note that most of these strategies, including value funds, are large company focused. The list of the top 50 schemes with the greatest NAV growth includes 13 large-cap funds. Sectoral funds (11 schemes), big and mid cap (8 schemes), ELSS (6), mid cap (6), flexi cap (3), and multicap (3) are some of the other fund categories included in this list. It’s interesting that the scheme doesn’t have any small cap funds, which are its current flavor.

With 6 schemes apiece reaching the list, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF and Franklin Templeton dominated the fund firms. Each of the five fund houses on this list—HDFC, ICICI Prudential, Nippon India, SBI, and Tata—has five schemes. Sundaram (3 schemes), DSP, HSBC, Kotak, and Quant (2 schemes apiece), PGIM, and UTI (1 scheme) are the other fund houses on the list.

Since their founding, 12 equity funds have assisted investors in making at least a crore on a lakh invested.
