Star Health and Allied Insurance, an Indian health insurance provider, has reached a significant milestone with the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) system, having processed more than 60 claims and over 100 claim transactions on the platform.

This level of activity on the NHCX platform is considered high for a health insurer, according to Star Health and Allied Insurance.

The company’s initial interaction with the NHCX platform occurred in July 2024 and since then, it has collaborated with seven service providers, expanding its claim transaction volume to more than 100.

The NHCX platform is an integral part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), designed to standardize health claim processing and enhance information exchange between insurers, healthcare providers, and policyholders, with the aim of streamlining the claims process and reducing turnaround times.

The process commences with hospitals generating bills through their Hospital Information Systems (HIS), which are then uploaded to a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) app. Subsequently, this information is transmitted to the insurer’s Health Claim System (HCS).
