The GST Council, which is presided over by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and is made up of state ministers, will determine whether to lower the existing 18% tax burden on health insurance or exempt specific groups of people, such as old citizens. Discussions over the goods and services tax (GST) reduction on life insurance premiums will also take place.
