In a board meeting on June 27, Madhabi Puri Buch, the chairwoman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), announced the formation of an expert working committee to examine F&O trading from three perspectives: one of segment development, two of investor protection, and three of risk management. The chairperson addressed the issues surrounding F&O trading by stating, “The capital market ecosystem itself carries a systemic risk. Does the possibility of a black-swan occurrence exist? We believe that we are comparatively well-protected. However, there’s always space for development.”
